This month Mr B and I are taking part in #BlogFlash2012, run by Terri Giuliano Long.
The idea is simple: 30 Days, 30 Prompts, 30 Posts. Every day there’s a new visual prompt and you have to produce 50-100 words on the theme. The beauty of it is, you can produce anything from a simple anecdote to a piece of flash fiction.
There’s also a Facebook page so you can follow along and swap links.
I am also taking part in NaBloPoMo August.
#BlogFlash2012: #1 – Thinking
Dave
Humans and animals are both capable of thought but as a species we humans have transcended the levels of the rest of the animal kingdom. Every technological achievement began as an idea. What we can do is extraordinary.
At the same time, animals are capable of feats we cannot fully understand such as their navigation and survival in extreme environments. For all the benefits of our advancements I still believe we are the most dangerous animals in the world. How we apply our many great achievements – for good or evil – is what separates us from the rest of the world.
Donna
It’s 3 a.m. and I am thinking:
too wide awake. My heart is sinking.
These wee small hours can be too lonely,
an audiobook is scarely company.
At 5 a.m. the sun is rising.
My inner nag begins chastising.
I go to sleep as Yorkshire stirs
but curse my inner night owl first.

Name something sweet you ate today
Today’s sweet thing would have to be a clementine. I absolutely love ‘little oranges’ and the real sweetness.

Interesting take on the prompt! I liked the two different perspectives on it. I can't wait to read what the two of you come up with for the rest of the month. :-)

I'm reading Tweedle Dee's posts as they are published and it's no surprise that this first one is better than mine ;)

This is my first visit to your page/writing and I loved your take on the prompt. I agree that we are indeed the most dangerous on the planet; knowledge is power and sometimes that power is misued on a huge scale. I loved the poem! Too many 3am moments! Why does our mind decide to be so awake at this time wehn you have to get up a few hours later! Although sometimes, my best ideas do come to light at this time. xxx

The prompts are challenging as they offer so many choices for things to discuss – Thinking was no exception.
I enjoyed Tweedle Dee's poem as well. She's good at both poetry and prose. I have never really got to grips with writing poetry, always preferred prose.

I love how you are both doing this and have it on each side of the picture! It is a great visual distinction.
Great musing David and wonderful poem Donna :-)

I love the fact that you are both doing this independently, but also as a team. It fits you so well! Thanks again for taking part!

Thanks for commenting Elisabeth.
I think Tweedle Dee has done a better job. I was just focussed on not exceeding 100 words. Not easy but a fun challenge :)

What great posts, both of you!! I love how you are both doing this and have such individual and unique ideas and ways of approaching today's prompt!

Yes, I've gone for the rambling approach but Tweedle Dee is demonstrating her poetry skills which I'm pleased are going down well with readers :)

I honestly do not know which one I live more, Dave's post or Donna's.

Go with Donna, Suzie :) She'll get embarrassed and blush if you do. It's very funny when it happens ;)
