A ‘Call to Action’ is a tool that is available for promoted videos on YouTube. Promoted videos are linked in with AdWords, enabling you to get more views (as long as you pay for it). But we all know that getting a click to a video to convert to a click to your Amazon page to convert to a sale can be a bit like trying to squeeze an elephant into a Mini right? Thankfully, there’s a way round it so I took a video from promotion to ‘Call to Action’ to show you how…
You will need:
A Google Adwords account, YouTube account and video (you must have the rights to use copyrighted content)
Step 1: Visit your YouTube account page and click ‘Promote your video with promotional videos’
Step 2: Selected ‘Add promoted videos to my YouTube account now!’
Step 3: Link your Adwords account with your YouTube account and create a budget (set this very low)
Step 4: Return to your YouTube account
Step 5: Upload your video and then visit your ‘uploaded videos’ list and click ‘promote’
Step 6: Choose the video that you want to promote and scroll down to confirm
Step 7: Write your promotion (it doesn’t need to be all singing all dancing – you won’t be using it for long)
Step 8: Choose a few relevant keywords
Step 9: Set your CPV or ‘Click per view’ cost (set this very low)
Step 10: Run your promotion
You may need to wait a day or so here for your promotion to be confirmed.
Step 11: On your video list, choose ‘Edit info’ on your chosen video
Step 12: Scroll down to the ‘Call to Action’ section and fill it in before click ‘save changes’ at the bottom of the page.
Step 13: Visit your YouTube ads account and locate your advert
Step 14: Pause your ad so no funds will be taken. Your ‘Call to Action overlay’ should continue to run.
