10 ebook stores that aren’t Amazon!
1) Smashwords – if you’re not already using Smashwords, you should definitely check it out. The site recently published its three billionth word and boasts over 70,000 books across over 28,000 authors. With a range of free books and stories available, plus paid books retailing from $0.99 up, it’s almost impossible not to find something good to read.
2) Xinxii describes itself as “Europe’s Leading Online-Marketplace for eBooks from Indie Authors”. Whilst it doesn’t offer the extensive library of Smashwords, it does boast over 13,000 uploads.
3) All Romance eBooks – if you love romance and all its subgenres, this is a must visit site. As well as a store offering everything from time travel to historical Gothic romance novels, there’s also the ARe cafe with news, trailers and event listings.
4) OmniLit – sister site of All Romance eBooks, this site offers a wide range of fiction and non-fiction ebooks plus a loyalty program that allows you to download a free book after every ten purchases.
5) Firsty Fish – although this site does list fiction books, its real strength is in its non-fiction collection.
6) Breakthrough Bookstore – okay, so this is a little bit of a cheat but if you shop with Amazon then Breakthrough Bookstore is a must visit store. The site showcases books from self-published authors and when you buy through them, you’re effectively buying from Amazon but supporting self-published authors at the same time.
7) Goodreads – so, you’ve found that ‘must read’ book on Goodreads and added it to your ‘To Read’ list but did you know you can actually buy ebooks straight from Goodreads?
8) BookieJar – an ebook site that actively encourages authors to connect with readers and also offers a ‘book promotion’ section to enable you to find discounted or free books with ease.
9) Writers Out – a site that helps writers get their work out there with ease by offering the opportunity to sell their work for free, at a fixed price or with a ‘Name your price’ tag.
10) Diesel offers an impressive array of titles but also offers a ‘bundle’ feature, enabling you to easily buy sets of titles in genres you love.
